    4y + 5 = 2 - 8y 12y =-3 y = -1/4

    4y + 5 = 2 - 8y, 4y + 8y = 2 - 5 ................. adding 8y to both sides and subtracting 5 from both sides 12y = - 3 .............collecting like terms y = -3/12 ....... dividing both sides by 12 = - 1/4 ....... simplifying
